İsdemir, Turkey's largest iron and steel factory, celebrates its 52nd anniversary. As the only and largest integrated facility in our country that produces both long and flat steel, İsdemir continues to be the rising star of İskenderun and Turkish industry for more than half a century.
İsdemir, one of the OYAK’s Mining Metallurgy companies, whose foundations were laid in Iskenderun in 1970, continues to contribute to the country's economy uninterruptedly for 52 years as one of the driving forces of the Turkish industry.
İsdemir is among the world's most important steel producers with a finished product production capacity of approximately 5.8 million tons/year of liquid steel, 3.5 million tons/year of flat products, 0.6 million tons/year of coil and 2.5 million tons of billet.
İsdemir Port, one of Turkey's most important ports located in the İskenderun Bay, provides loading/unloading services for bulk solid, general cargo and bulk liquid cargoes with a capacity of 21 million tons. Continuing its production, operation, maintenance and modernization works successfully in all its facilities, İskenderun Demir ve Çelik A.Ş. continues its activities in line with the principle of quality production with optimum cost and maximum efficiency.
İsdemir also plays an important role in increasing the flat product production capacity, which is of great importance for the steel industry.
Supports projects for the region and its employees
Ranking 5th in Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises 2021 survey by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, İsdemir has been operating with all its might to provide benefits to the city and people of İskenderun, where it has been operating since it was established. Providing basic input to many sectors such as pipe manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, pressure vessels and boilers, general construction, land and railway vehicles, İsdemir supports the development of the regional economy with the investments it continues.
Positioning occupational health and safety at the center of its understanding of responsible production, İsdemir opened OHS Training and Simulation Center in May with the aim to provide employees with appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors by transferring the experiences brought by safety risks, unintentionally unsafe behaviors and environments, and past work accidents to employees through digital training simulators, augmented and virtual reality applications. With this training center, İsdemir aims to ensure that its employees receive hands-on training, while raising awareness in occupational health and safety practices, to make safe behavioral changes in the field.
Continues with the investments
In the first half of 2022, İsdemir developed two new product qualities in long products and increased the number of long products to 320, and there are 237 product qualities in flat products.
Commissioned the coke battery no. 3 last May within the scope of energy efficiency-oriented investments, İsdemir aims to increase the sales volume of by-products with the new battery, to save energy and to prevent imports by increasing the production of metallurgical coke. İsdemir continues its works without slowing down to complete the investments for the New 1st Blast Furnace and Vacuum Degassing Plant.
