The application process for the 8th Erdemir Steel and Life Sculpture Competition has started

Applications for the Steel and Life Sculpture Competition, organized by Erdemir this year under the theme “A Green Legacy for the Future: Zero Carbon”, have officially begun. Supporting young talents who will contribute to the development of the art of sculpture through this competition, Erdemir also aims to enhance art education in Türkiye.

The application process for the 8th Steel and Life Sculpture Competition, where the steel that Erdemir has been bringing to life for 60 years is reshaped in the hands of young talents and transformed into works of art, began on February 27. Organized this year under the theme “A Green Legacy for the Future: Zero Carbon”, the competition seeks to inspire young artists to create by supporting their artistic education and to highlight the indispensable role of steel in human life through art.

Applications for the Steel and Life Sculpture Competition, open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the sculpture departments of fine arts faculties at universities in Türkiye, can be submitted via Erdemir’s website until March 9. Artworks can be delivered between April 14-22, and the award ceremony will take place on May 8 at the OYAK Mining Metallurgy Conference and Foyer Area. 

The Goal: Contributing to a Greener Future

The theme of this year's Erdemir Steel and Life Sculpture Competition has been set as “A Green Legacy for the Future: Zero Carbon” to raise awareness of environmental sustainability and contribute to a greener future. With this focus, the competition aims to showcase steel’s commitment to a sustainable future and its ability to provide innovative and efficient solutions to the challenges humanity faces on its journey forward.

The Selection Committee will determine the award-winning works

In the 8th Erdemir Steel and Life Sculpture Competition, the Selection Committee will evaluate the submissions and determine the first, second, and third prize-winning works. Additionally, a total of 30 artworks will be recognized and awarded within the scope of the Jury Special Award, Erdemir Special Award, and Honorable Mention Awards.
