OYAK Defense and Security Systems (SGS) Inc. carried out a strategic visit to Somalia aimed at security services.
A delegation consisting of OYAK SGS Inc. General Manager Hakan Öztekin, Director of International Security Cengiz Turan, International Security Manager Coşkun Tülemez, and OYAK General Manager Advisor and SOMTURK Chairman of the Board Turhan Ecevit held a series of meetings in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, between January 4–6, 2026.
Within the scope of the visit, meetings were held with relevant institutions and organizations to assess potential security services that could be provided in Somalia on site, to develop international cooperation opportunities, and to discuss security services specifically related to the investments of the Republic of Türkiye in Somalia.
In this context, a preliminary memorandum of understanding was signed between OYAK SGS Inc. and SHABEEL Group on January 5, 2026. The memorandum reflects the mutual intention to collaborate in private security, consultancy, and training activities in Somalia and other African countries with investment opportunities.
One of the leading private security companies in the region, SHABEEL Group operates in the fields of private security, maritime security, management services, and risk management consultancy across Somalia and the wider region. The company also contributes to the secure implementation of strategic investments in the region by providing integrated project support services for international investment activities.
Through this cooperation, OYAK SGS Inc. aims to implement security operations across Africa while expanding its capacity to deliver qualified solutions in security, risk management, and consultancy on a global scale.
