31 March 2022

With its “Lead Metal Nationalization Project” launched in 2016, Akdeniz Chemson, the world's number one PVC stabilizer company, was deemed worthy of the “Best Nationalization Project Award” in the chemical industry at the 10th Turkey Purchasing and Supply Management Summit.+

Akdeniz Chemson, one of the OYAK Group Companies, won the first prize in the Chemistry industry at the 10th Turkey Purchasing and Supply Management Summit organized by the Turkish Association of Purchasing Professionals and Managers (TÜSAYDER) with its “Lead Metal Nationalization Project” it has been carrying out for the last six years. The award is given to companies that ensure the nationalization of products that are not produced in Turkey or that are imported at high costs, under the leadership of purchasing managers.

At the summit, the Akdeniz Chemson Raw Material Purchasing Department team expressed their happiness at being deemed worthy of such a meaningful award. Until six years ago, lead production of a quality to be used in the production of stabilizers was not produced in Turkey, and domestic lead manufacturers were not aware of the existence of such a market. Within the scope of the project initiated by Akdeniz Chemson in 2016, samples were sent to domestic producers and they were encouraged to produce lead metal of acceptable quality.

Akdeniz Chemson, which helps manufacturers produce the right product by providing R&D support, continues to develop strategic collaborations by making long-term contracts. Akdeniz Chemson has started to supply the entire amount of pure lead, 100 percent of which it imported from abroad until 2016, from domestic companies that produce converted lead metal.

Still selling to 110 countries, Akdeniz Chemson aims to be the sole center for the PVC industry by increasing its cross-product sales portfolio for the sectors it serves. Setting its focus markets as Europe, Russia, Turkic Republics, North Africa, the Middle East, the United States, China, Brazil and Australia, the company operates with six production facilities operating on a product-based integrated structure. The company continues to produce many of the calcium, zinc and lead based stabilizer intermediates in these facilities.
