Winners of the 7th Steel and Life Sculpture Competition by Erdemir have been announced. 54 works awarded and appreciated in the competition organized in cooperation with Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University will be exhibited at Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center between June 30 and July 7.
Erdemir, the largest flat steel producer in Turkey, continues to support sculpture artists who use steel as the main material in their works. 197 students from 11 different universities applied to the Erdemir Steel and Life Sculpture Competition held with the theme of “Transformation” in cooperation with the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. As a result of the jury assessment, 23 works were deemed worthy of awards and 31 works were found worthy of exhibition. At the ceremony held at Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University student Ömer Kasımoğlu won the first prize with his work “Self Sabotage”, while Muzaffer Tuncer from the same university ranked second with his work “The Conversion” and Aziz Sargın from Anadolu University placed third with his work “Untitled”.
The winner of the competition was presented with 20 thousand TL, the second with 15 thousand TL, and the third with 10 thousand TL, while the honorable mention winners were awarded 5 thousand TL, the “Special Jury Award” and “Erdemir Special Award” winners were presented with 4 thousand TL.
The exhibition is open for visits free of charge until September 7
The Steel and Life Sculpture Competition Exhibition is on display in the Single Dome Hall at the Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center until September 7 free of charge. As every year, the exhibition will also meet with art lovers in the regions of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies.
