Applications for the “Steel and Life Sculpture Competition”, which was held for the 7th time this year and to be held every year by Erdemir, Turkey's leading steel producer, in cooperation with Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, started on March 15. The conditions for participating in the competition, where applications will continue until March 30, 2022, can be found on Erdemir's official website, www.erdemir.com.tr With the theme of “Transformation” this year, it is expected that the students of the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts will show great interest this year as in previous years.
Erdemir aims to show the indispensable place of steel in human life through art, with the “Steel and Life Sculpture Competition”, where it aims to encourage young people to produce by contributing to their art education. Steel, which Erdemir - closed the year as the most valuable company of Borsa Istanbul - gives life for more than half a century, will be transformed into works of art by being reshaped in the hands of young talents. Students continuing their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculties of Fine Arts at universities in Turkey will be able to participate in the competition. With the competition under the theme of “Transformation” this year, young artists will bring this concept together with steel through their own perspectives and turn it into art. The sculptures produced by young talents from steel will be presented to the attention of art lovers with the exhibitions to be held at the Tophane-i Amire Cultural Center Single Dome Hall at the end of the competition, as every year.

Students applying to the competition via Erdemir's website until March 30 will be able to participate in the competition by sending their works to the specified address until May 20. Students, who will realize the production of their projects with the material support of Erdemir, will be able to learn about the results of the competition at the opening of the exhibition to be held at the Tophane-i Amire Cultural Center Single Dome Hall, after the jury's evaluation.
The competition will be held every year in order to encourage the young people to art more.
More than 500 students have participated in the competition, which was awaited impatiently by students from the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts all around Turkey. The competition, which was held every two years in the past, was decided to be held every year starting from 2021, upon the intense interest of the students. Erdemir's steel that shapes, facilitates and beautifies life is being reshaped in the hands of young talents. With this competition, Erdemir supports young talents who will play a role in the development of the art of sculpture in our country and aims to contribute to art education.
Students will receive awards
The winner of the 7th Erdemir Steel and Life Sculpture Competition will receive 20 thousand Turkish lira, the second 15 thousand Turkish lira and the third 10 thousand Turkish lira prize. Of the other works evaluated and selected by the jury, five of them will be awarded with Honorable Mention Prize of 5 thousand Turkish Lira, five of them with the Jury's Special Award of 4 thousand Turkish Lira, and five of them with the Erdemir Special Award of 4 thousand TL.
