28 students participating in OYAK Mining Metallurgy's "You Are the Gem Part Time Long Term Internship Program," which aims to bring young talents into the business world, have taken their first steps on their journey of transformation.
OYAK Mining Metallurgy (OMM), a steel powerhouse of the Turkish industry, has launched its “You Are the Gem Part-Time Long Term Internship Program” for final year university students.
28 young talents accepted into the program took their first steps on their development journey with a comprehensive orientation program held at the Ataşehir Head Office.
Throughout the program, the young people will receive mentorship from experienced managers and become part of OMM's innovative, digitalization and sustainability focused transformation vision.
During the orientation, students received training on corporate culture, communication, information security, and digital transformation, and were also taught practices to strengthen team coordination.
The young people, who will actively participate in company projects during their internship, will be directed to career opportunities within OYAK Mining Metallurgy based on their success and motivation.

Applications are still open for the “You Are the Gem Internship” Summer Internship Program, launched with the aim of discovering the gems of the future and transforming this potential into value.

Students who will intern at Erdemir, İsdemir, Erdemir Maden, Ersem, and Erdemir Mühendislik companies will have the opportunity to be at the heart of integrated production facilities that form the foundation of the country's industry.
Participants will have the chance to closely experience the production and engineering power of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies by observing the production ecosystem from raw materials to the final product.

Sena Uncu, a 4th-year student in the Materials and Metallurgy Department at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), stated that she started her internship in the international sales department, saying, “I wanted to see an integrated facility at OYAK Mining and Metallurgy. What attracted me was its very large size. I was also accepted into international sales, which is another area that interests me. I would like to work in R&D teams in the future. I also want to gain experience in sales.”
Elmas Rana Civelek, a senior student in Chemical Engineering at Ankara University, stated that she started her internship in the R&D department, saying, “This four-month period will be very exciting for me, and I am looking forward to improving myself. I believe that I can further develop myself by optimizing various processes in the R&D department, producing steel more effectively, and assisting in different processes, and I can contribute to this process as much as I can.”
Eren Bozkurt, a Mechanical Engineering student at Yıldız Technical University, said, “I felt very valued in the program's operation. Both the managers and the interview process made us feel very valued. I am happy to be working in a more social and pleasant environment.”
Ahmet Sait Ünlü, a senior student in the Foreign Languages Department at Boğaziçi University, stated that he has started an internship in the sales unit, saying, “OYAK Mining Metallurgy has designed a very good program with the ‘You Are the Gem’ program. They offered us a fantastic opportunity. I think I've seized a great opportunity to increase my sales experience.”
Kadir Cur, a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student at Boğaziçi University, stated that he will start an internship in the Sustainability Department, saying, “Sustainability is the most important issue of our time. I think I will be better prepared for professional life here.”
Ayşegül Epçaçan, a senior student in the Chemistry Department at Yıldız Technical University, said, “The orientation process was very enjoyable. It was very pleasant to meet directly with the managers and ask our questions face-to-face. I felt very safe, everyone was very attentive.”
Ayşe Nur Uçar, a senior student in Industrial Engineering at Sabancı University, said, “Receiving so much attention and appreciation since I arrived has made me very happy. I already feel like I belong here.”
