The world premiere of the Alpine A390 took place in Dieppe, France, on the evening of 27 May. Alpine's new sporty fastback A390 is a very special model that blends the brand's DNA and the thrilling driving experience offered by the A110 with more functionality. The most important thing the Alpine A390, developed on the AmpR Medium platform, focuses on is driving pleasure. This vehicle became the second model of the Alpine Dream Garage series, which consists of fully electric models.

Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine, stated: "The Alpine A390, or how to reinvent the spirit of the A110 in a 5-seat sport fastback. The A390 is the quintessential Alpine, combining sportiness and performance with technology and refinement, all for a unique driving experience that is equally suited to everyday use and more spirited driving. Inspired by French design expertise, its distinctive styling will delight all lovers of beautiful sports cars, just as Alpine has done for more than 70 years. Above all, this all-wheel-drive sport fastback is the finished product from a team of passionate men and women who believe electric sportiness is meaningful and are working hard to do it justice."

The Alpine A390 is manufactured at the historic Jean Rédélé Factory in Dieppe, France. The plant is also undergoing a transformation process, through which it aims to establish a bridge between the past and the future for the transition to electric EVs and production volumes. Cells and modules that are produced in Dunkirk and assembled in Douai are used in Verkor's high-performance batteries, while the engines are manufactured at the Cléon factory. The specially developed tires and the sound system bear the signatures of Michelin and Devialet, respectively.

The Alpine A390: Racing Car in a Suit

Designed as a stylish sports fastback with a unique character, A390 brings together its iconic fluid and sporty lines and an alluring interior for all five passengers. The interior with 4,615 mm x 1,885 mm x 1,532 mm sizes offers a large but compact dimension, compared to Alpine's standards.

A390 also features cleverly thought-out details from Alpine's legendary model A110.  While the coupe proportions can be seen from a distance of 110 meters, the helmet visor-shaped rear window and compact glass surfaces strengthen the A390's eye-catching appearance. Then, at 110 centimeters, a second level of interpretation, the sculptural line animating the rear doors and integrated door handles, the precise craftsmanship of the body line in the shoulder area, reflections and volumes, and the bonnet blade that allows air to pass to channel aerodynamic flows emerge. At 110 millimeters, admirable details such as triangular-shaped front bumpers inspired by mountains and side scoops that create air curtains stand out. Other elements shape the unique light signature. The cluster of illuminated triangles, called “Cosmic Dust” at the front, evokes an image of a comet piercing the atmosphere. When the driver approaches the vehicle, these triangles light up with a welcome animation. A reflection of the Alpine logo surrounded by snowflakes also lines up horizontally at ground level. The A390, every detail of which was carefully considered, has an exceptional appearance supported by all its design features.

Aerodynamics, one of the most significant elements of the electric range in the Alpine A390, was thoughtfully planned in every detail, from the alluring bonnet to the rear bumper. On the other hand, the Alpine A390 comes in six body colors: Deep Black, Abyss Blue, Alpine Blue, Mercury Gray, Topaz White, and Matte Thunder Gray. Depending on the version, various color options are available for the roof and other components.

Interior Design: A Sporty 5-Seat Cocoon

The Alpine A390 unleashes a universe completely dedicated to sportiness through its interior. Comfort and quality are immediately felt in the model's cockpit. The leather-covered dashboard, center console, and door panels reinforce this impression. The cockpit also offers a sophisticated lighting ambiance created with Alpine's vivid blue color.

Featuring a driver-oriented nature, the cockpit immerses the user in the Alpine world with 12.3-inch and 12-inch high-resolution screens. The physical air conditioning panel allows drivers to adjust settings without taking their eyes off the road. In addition to the heating, the flat-bottom sports steering wheel in Napa Blue allows controls for driving modes, driving aids, telephone, voice assistant, and instrument panel display modes. Inspired by the world of Formula 1, the two custom-colored aluminium buttons control the regeneration level (blue RCH button “Charge”), one pedal mode, and boost (red OV button “Overtake”) functions used for overtaking and launch control. There is also a special switchgear for the audio controls.

The high center console, patterned after the iconic A110 design, incorporates the Alpine RND transmission controls, highlighted by two adjustable wings. Manufactured with Alcantara microfiber material, the blue and grey napa leather-covered Alpine Sport seats heated by Sabelt®, the A logo embroidered on the headrests, Devialet aluminum speaker grills, optional microfiber headliner, and numerous customization options by Atelier Alpine (brake caliper color, seats, rims, etc.) open the doors to a privileged world. Besides, the Alpine A390 has a boot capacity of 532 liters. It also offers additional functionality with an optional double-boot floor.

The Alpine A390 features a high-resolution 12-inch central display in portrait format, graphical themes, and a user interface backed by the Alpine design language. Pictograms' design, fonts, and the Alpine blue background contribute to the visual coherence between the two screens. The Alpine Portal system was created based on systems connected with Android Automotive and Google Automotive Services. It runs smoothly and efficiently and is also constantly updated remotely using wireless update (FOTA) technology. Google Maps-powered GPS navigation and route planning for electric vehicles are standard across the entire product range. The Google Assistant's voice assistant feature is also accessible.

Unwavering Alpine Performance and Amazing Equipment

Alpine's naming strategy is based on the letter A and three numbers. The numbers 3 and 90 in the name refer to the size of the vehicle and the brand's versatile daily vehicles, respectively. With a length of 4,615 mm, the A390 combines subtle elements such as wider track width for stability, special forged aluminum suspension links, and a wheelbase of 2,708 mm for superior maneuverability. Its low center of gravity and ideal weight distribution, 49% in the front and 51% in the rear, are the perfect basis for a well-balanced and enjoyable driving experience.

The A390 has the best performance level in its class, which was developed to last without any loss, even if the battery is not fully charged. The four-wheel drive system supported by the three engines gives the A390 exemplary traction power in all road conditions. The GT version provides the finest performance level in its class with a total power of 400 hp and a torque value of up to 650 Nm, reaching from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The GTS version with a power of 470 hp and a torque value of up to 808 Nm, on the other hand, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and hit the maximum speed of 220 km/h. The two engines at the rear activate the Alpine Active Torque Vectoring system, which plays a significant role in the A390's driving dynamics. The chassis setting best reflects the agility, lightness, and stability of the A110, the benchmark model in the Alpine range.

The A390 boasts a distinctive suspension with hydraulic stops to ensure the best balance between comfort and handling. The braking system is a first for Alpine, with 365mm discs and 6-piston calipers. The A390 is equipped with the most recent generation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). New features such as driver distraction monitoring with gradual emergency braking, automatic emergency braking developed with rear function outside the front one, lane departure warning, and safe passenger exit during parking complement traditional driving aids. The My Safety button on the left of the steering wheel allows the driver to select ADAS settings with a single touch, activate or deactivate them, and choose the level of intervention and the status of audible alerts.

A Groundbreaking High-Performance Battery

For the first time, the Alpine A390 will be on the roads with a battery that has a high-performance chemistry (cells and modules) specifically developed for Alpine by French specialist Verkor and manufactured in France. Verkor redesigned the entire architecture of the 400V battery with a specially scaled cooling system (thanks to the higher water flow rate in particular) and NMC chemistry with high nickel content and high energy density. The A390 offers a range of up to 555 km with 20-inch wheels (WLTP cycle, awaiting approval) and up to 520 km with 21-inch wheels (WLTP cycle, awaiting approval), owing to its generous battery capacity of 89 kWh. All trim levels include a heat pump as standard to extend the range by optimizing the internal temperature.

Thanks to A390's excellent average charging performance, DC fast charging can go up to 190 kW. The ability to maintain high charging power for a long time is supported by the smart charging management. Thus, the vehicle can be charged in less than 20 minutes, recover the 2-hour highway driving range, and be charged from 15% to 80% in less than 25 minutes *. An 11-kW integrated charger is standard, and can be upgraded to 22 kW optionally. It also supports V2L-compatible bi-directional charging function with an optional adapter.

The Alpine A390 is also anticipated to arrive in Türkiye in 2026.
