- Volatility in global markets and regional risks have redirected investors back to real estate
- OYAK Construction General Manager Ahmet Bülbül: “Housing is not only a basic need for shelter, but also a strong investment instrument that preserves its value in the long term”
As increasing global economic volatility, a high-interest-rate environment, and uncertainties in financial markets reshape investment preferences, the real estate sector continues to maintain its position as a safe haven.
The increase observed in housing sales over the past two months has also been reflected in OYAK Construction’s residential projects in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.
Commenting on the matter, OYAK Construction General Manager Ahmet Bülbül stated that, during such periods, investors tend to shift toward more predictable and value-preserving assets.
Drawing attention to the changing risk perception of investors in times of uncertainty, Bülbül said: “In such periods, investors understandably act more cautiously and turn to more tangible, value-retaining, and predictable assets. Housing is not only a basic need for shelter, but also a strong investment instrument that preserves its value in the long term. For this reason, real estate continues to serve as a safe haven during periods of uncertainty.”
“Fluctuations in gold prices have stimulated housing demand”
Emphasizing that fluctuations in gold prices have also reshaped investor preferences, Bülbül stated: “With the volatility in gold prices and the uncertainty in the markets, we observe that individuals are once again turning toward housing. This situation has created a noticeable and remarkable momentum in the sector. During such periods, it is essential to adopt a long-term perspective in order to avoid being affected by short-term fluctuations. Criteria such as the right location, a solid project, and a reliable developer must be prioritized. When investment decisions are evaluated within this framework, the advantages offered by real estate become much clearer.”
Highlighting that OYAK Construction addresses both engineering quality and living standards in its projects, Bülbül added: “While developing our projects, we consider not only today’s needs but also those of the future. We build high-quality and prestigious structures designed with advanced engineering solutions, fully compliant with international standards and earthquake regulations. From ground surveys to structural system design, we base all processes on up-to-date scientific methods. As OYAK Construction, we do not merely build structures; we create safe, sustainable, and high-quality living spaces.”
Stating that they adopt a holistic approach to living in their projects, Bülbül emphasized the importance of social amenities, sports facilities for a healthy lifestyle, and environmentally friendly practices, and continued: “As OYAK Construction, we adopt a model that sustains quality of life even after project delivery. In our approach, life begins with delivery. Therefore, site management, service quality, and operational continuity are just as important to us as project development. We aim for our users to experience the same level of quality in the long term.”
OYAK Construction General Manager Bülbül also noted that their sustainability approach is considered a core element in their projects, enhancing both environmental sensitivity and quality of life, stating: “In this context, our projects are developed in compliance with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards, shaped by goals such as energy efficiency, efficient use of natural resources, and reducing long-term environmental impact. This approach ensures that our projects serve as investments that add value both today and in the future.”
