27 December 2025

OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies have launched the “Transformation at Work” project in line with their 2030 strategy. With a project that places artificial intelligence and digital technologies at the center of business processes, the aim is to establish a new balance for people, technology, and a sustainable future.

Stating that they aim to be a differentiated, strong, and sustainable company in the sector, Murat Yalçıntaş, OYAK General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erdemir and İsdemir, said, “In addition to our artificial intelligence trainings, every step we take toward integrating data into our business processes is part of our vision to set the standards of the future.”

OYAK Mining Metallurgy, which includes Erdemir and İsdemir, two of Türkiye’s leading iron and steel companies, has launched the “Transformation at Work” project with the vision of being ready for the world of the future. In this context, AI Applications in Office Programs were launched with pilot groups, and the Advanced Data Analytics Program was put into operation. In line with this vision, a Sustainability Working Group was established, and a long-term internship program titled “Cevher Sensin” (You Are the Ore) was also launched.

Emphasizing that simply following new technologies is not enough to be ready for the future, Murat Yalçıntaş said, “For us, true transformation means integrating artificial intelligence and digital tools at the center of our business processes to both strengthen our operational excellence and create sustainable value. This process includes developing our employees’ competencies, using data as a strategic resource, and making our decision-making processes faster, more accurate, and more effective.”

Stating that they aim to be a differentiated, strong, and sustainable company in the sector, Yalçıntaş continued as follows: “In addition to our artificial intelligence trainings, every step we take toward integrating data into our business processes is part of our vision to set the standards of the future. This journey is a critical step toward realizing the vision of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies. With our sustainability, innovation, and people-focused approach, we are taking on leadership in the steel industry and aiming to build a more balanced world for people, technology, and the planet.”

Next-generation productivity through digitalization and artificial intelligence

Positioning digitalization as a strategic transformation, OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies are reshaping business processes by blending artificial intelligence technologies with the experience of their human resources. In this context, AI Applications in Office Programs were implemented with pilot groups.

Through robotic process automation solutions, repetitive tasks are reduced, enabling a focus on higher value-added work, while innovation in business processes is supported. In addition, improvements are achieved in manual processing times and error rates in processes.

Smarter business models developed through the power of data

The Advanced Data Analytics Program was also launched to transform data in OYAK’s Mining Metallurgy companies’ production processes into strategic value. By strengthening employees’ data literacy and analytical capabilities, the program aims for effective cost management in line with the 2030 vision through scenarios such as optimization in quality, productivity, energy, and raw material blend utilization. It aims to ensure that the dissemination of digital decision-making processes and the support of a continuous improvement culture with analytical capabilities deliver speed, agility, and lasting cultural transformation in business processes.

Sustainability Working Group established

Integrating sustainability into all business processes, OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies established a Sustainability Working Group in order to create long-term value for stakeholders by placing environmental responsibility, social impact, and strong governance principles at the core. In the group, which aims to manage the expectations and requirements of all internal and external stakeholders in a holistic and coordinated manner, expert participants from the sector and academia will also serve as advisors, in addition to company employees.

People at the center of the “Transformation at Work” journey

OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies place people at the center of their long-term Transformation at Work journey and position investment in human resources and young talent as a strategic priority. In line with this understanding, the aim is to bring qualified young people into the sector and ensure that future professionals have a strong competency set. As the first step of this vision, a long-term internship program titled “Cevher Sensin” (You Are the Ore) was launched for fourth-year university students. Within the program, young talents will have the opportunity to gain real work experience in many units, from sales and marketing to R&D, and from finance to human resources. Applications will remain open until January 12, 2026, and throughout the four-month program, experienced employees will provide mentoring support to strengthen the learning journey of next-generation talent.

OYAK Mining Metallurgy comprises 11 companies

In addition to Erdemir and İsdemir, OYAK’s companies operating in the Mining Metallurgy field include 11 companies, such as Erdemir Mining, Türkiye’s first and only iron ore pelletizing facility; Erdemir Steel Service Center, which offers steel users customized sizing and services tailored to their needs; Erdemir Engineering, which provides services at every stage from project design to commissioning; and Erdemir Romania, which exports a large portion of the electrical steel it produces to Europe.
