OYAK will establish unlicensed renewable energy power plants to meet the energy needs of Group Companies. The facility, which belongs to OYAK Çimento Fabrikaları A.Ş., will be Turkey's largest unlicensed solar power plant (SPP) built on land.
Operating in the mining metallurgy, cement concrete paper, automotive logistics, finance, chemistry, food, agriculture, animal husbandry and energy sectors, OYAK will develop unlicensed renewable power plant projects to meet the consumption of its companies.
It will start with the cement sector and spread to other sectors
OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem drew attention to the importance of investing in renewable resources at a time when the energy agenda is shaping the global economy. Erdem emphasized that while the world is going through an energy transition, companies should also take responsibility and determine initiatives that will create value for a sustainable life. Erdem continued:
“We are taking concrete steps to leave a better future for our next generations by investing in environmentally friendly technologies and using clean energy sources. We have accelerated our work for the last six years to strengthen our business model in a sustainability perspective. We started to work on the largest unlicensed solar power plant in Turkey to be built on the land. With this project, which we developed in accordance with the European Green Deal, we aim to support the energy we need for production with alternative sources and to reduce carbon emissions in our carbon-intensive sectors. We are establishing an unlicensed solar power plant with an installed capacity of approximately 100 MW in order to meet some of the internal consumption of OYAK Çimento Fabrikaları A.Ş., one of our OYAK Cement Concrete Paper Sector Companies, where we aim to meet 30.1 percent of our total electricity consumption from renewable energy resources. The power plant will initially be built on an area of approximately 1500 decares in Ankara in accordance with the regulation of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
OYAK will expand this transformation, which it will start with companies in the cement, concrete and paper sectors, with companies in other sectors, and will provide an important development in terms of renewable energy use. OYAK will realize projects where it can generate more than 1,000 MW of energy for the consumption of Group Companies.
