OYAK Cement Takes “Sustainability and Digitalization” to its Focus

Breaks a new ground in the world with the OYAK Cement 4.0 Project
Realizing many firsts for the cement industry on a global scale, OYAK Cement supports its strategies focused on efficiency, creativity and sustainability with the digital transformation project OYAK Cement 4.0, which includes many firsts for the industrial cement industry. The OYAK Cement 4.0 Project, almost all of which was built with internal resources, includes many first applications not only in Turkey but also globally in terms of the cement industry. With the project in question, OYAK Cement provides direct support to CO2 reduction, one of the most important topics of the last period and the near future.
The first Turkish cement company to make “Net-Zero” commitment
Another point included in OYAK Cement's report was the implementation of sustainability policies in line with the EU Green Agreement pursuant to the 2050 targets. Creating its own sustainability targets based on the 2030 and 2050 targets of the Paris Agreement for this purpose, OYAK Cement became the first cement company in Turkey to give its “Net-Zero” commitment bringing together the criteria that global companies need in order to set science-based targets for limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5°C until 2030. While the whole world is transitioning to a zero-carbon economy, OYAK Cement was among more than 2,000 business and financial institutions working together with the “Science-Based Targets Initiative” (SBTi) to reduce its emissions in line with climate science. OYAK Cement has increased its thermal displacement rate to 23 percent in 5 years with alternative fuels, which was 6 percent in 2016 in Turkey, and aims to use alternative fuels at a rate of 100 percent.
