Offering fast, safe, and user-friendly charging solutions to electric vehicle (EV) users, Otojet has entered into a strategic partnership with Porsche, the performance brand of the automotive world, and ABB E-Mobility, a leading manufacturer of EV chargers. As part of this collaboration, high-power charging stations equipped with ABB's devices, capable of delivering up to 360 kW DC charging, will be installed along key travel routes. This initiative aims to establish one of the fastest charging networks in Türkiye by the end of 2025.
Accelerating its efforts to provide uninterrupted mobility, safe charging, and comfortable travel for EV users, Otojet - part of the OYAK Energy Companies - has teamed up with Porsche, a global symbol of performance and prestige, and ABB E-Mobility, a prominent EV charger manufacturer. The partnership, which includes exclusive benefits for Porsche users, sets a new standard for EV charging infrastructure in Türkiye.
The details of this collaboration between industry-leading brands were unveiled at a press launch at Volkswagen Arena. Speaking at the event, Yüksel Yılmaz, Group President of Energy Companies at OYAK, highlighted the critical role of EV in a sustainable future. Yılmaz said, “Charging stations are a cornerstone of the EV transformation. At Otojet, we are proud to lead this transformation.”
Emphasizing that Otojet is one of the first brands to receive an EV charging operator license from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), Yılmaz added, “Through our Otojet brand, we are making strategic investments to better integrate our country into the EV transformation. At the same time, we aim to encourage vehicle owners to embrace this significant change with our infrastructure and charging network services.”
Porsche customers will charge their vehicles at the highest speed
In 2024, Porsche introduced its most extensive product range to date, including the renewed Taycan model, which can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes at an 800-volt charging station. Additionally, the new fully electric Macan offers high charging performance of up to 270 kW. The strategic partnership with Otojet and ABB aims to provide customers with ultra-fast charging capabilities, ensuring that EV users can travel quickly and comfortably along major routes.
Approximately 3 million EV expected on Turkish roads by 2030
Highlighting the rapid momentum of the EV transformation in Türkiye, Alp Kafdağlı, Group Strategy and Business Development Director of Energy Companies at OYAK, assessed the growth of the EV ecosystem with the following remarks: “In 2013, the presence of EV and charging sockets in Türkiye was nearly nonexistent. By the end of October 2024, the number of EV in Türkiye had surpassed 140,000, and the number of charging sockets exceeded 24,000. This growth is expected to accelerate further. By 2030, we anticipate 2.5 to 3 million EV on Turkish roads. To support this demand, approximately 100,000 charging points will be required, equivalent to one charging point for every 25–30 vehicles.”
Highlighting the current infrastructure, Kafdağlı noted, “As of October 2024, EMRA data shows approximately 25,000 charging points in Türkiye. To meet the 2030 targets, this figure needs to quadruple. Speed and determination in infrastructure investments are essential.”
Kafdağlı also underlined Otojet's leading role in this transformation: “We are at the forefront of expanding the charging infrastructure by developing solutions tailored to the daily needs of EV users.”
The fastest, safest service with 1,000 charging stations
Noting that they began installing the first charging points in May 2023 and quickly rose to 6th place nationwide in the number of fast charging sockets and 7th place in total socket count, Kafdağlı continued: “Our goal is to reach 1,000 charging points by the end of 2025 and become one of Türkiye’s leading charging network providers by 2030. We particularly prioritize the installation of fast charging (DC) points. In this way, we aim to effectively meet the needs of EV users while also increasing access to charging stations across the country. In addition to TotalEnergies stations, Otojet will also be present at other fuel stations, shopping malls, residential areas, and parking lots. This way, we will always be there for EV users anytime and anywhere with our fast, user-friendly, and secure charging stations.”
The charging process will become a privileged experience
Kafdağlı highlighted that the strategic partnership with Porsche and ABB would significantly enhance their goals: “This collaboration unites the strengths of industry-leading brands to provide Porsche users with fast and reliable charging services on highways and in city centers across Türkiye. Porsche owners will also enjoy exclusive charging benefits and privileges with the Porsche card, making their charging experience comfortable and unique. For Porsche owners, charging will become a privileged experience rather than just a routine service.”
Redefining the charging performance
The partnership between Otojet, Porsche, and ABB sets a new benchmark for charging performance in Türkiye. Porsche plans to expand the Otojet network by adding 12 high-power charging stations and 24 charging points by the end of 2025. These investments, focused on key travel routes like İzmir and Bodrum, aim to offer EV users greater convenience in terms of speed and range. Together with ABB, the collaboration seeks to provide an exceptional electric driving experience, reflecting Porsche's hallmark of pure excitement and driving pleasure.
ABB at the forefront of technological innovation
Recep Mert, E-Mobility Sales Manager of ABB, described ABB as a global technology leader headquartered in Switzerland, operating in over 130 countries: “Active across all sectors, including utilities, transportation, and manufacturing, ABB provides products, services, and solutions aimed at increasing productivity and energy efficiency. With over 140 years of experience, we have consistently been at the forefront of technological innovation, and our ABB E-Mobility solutions are no exception. As the world embraces greener and cleaner modes of transportation, ABB E-Mobility is proud to play a pivotal role in this transformation.”
Highlighting ABB's collaboration with Porsche in numerous countries, Mert added, “Through this partnership, we aim to advance the EV ecosystem, particularly in the fields of high-performance EV charging and sustainable mobility. We are pleased to bring this collaboration to life with the Otojet brand in our country.”
