Omsan Logistics launches services on the Malatya–Nurdağı line

13 October 2025

Omsan Logistics is preparing to commence transportation operations on the Malatya–Gölbaşı–Narlı–Nurdağı railway line, which has been reopened for service following extensive repair works.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the line for the regional economy and the logistics sector, Omsan Logistics General Manager Ahmet Tansık said, “Thanks to the close follow-up and acceleration efforts of the Ministry of Transport, the reactivation of this line will accelerate regional development.”

The Malatya–Gölbaşı–Narlı–Nurdağı railway line, which sustained damage in the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, was reopened for service on September 15, 2025, after comprehensive restoration work. While the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has already resumed train operations on the line, Omsan Logistics is preparing to begin its transportation operations in the coming days.

Emphasizing the critical importance of reopening the 235-kilometer Malatya–Gölbaşı–Narlı–Nurdağı railway line for the regional economy and the logistics sector, Omsan Logistics General Manager Ahmet Tansık said, “During the period when the line was closed, freight transport had to be redirected through the Malatya–Sivas–Kayseri–İskenderun route. This long and costly detour resulted in significant time and cost inefficiencies.”

Tansık emphasized that the revived railway line, reactivated under the close supervision of the Ministry of Transport, will reduce logistics costs and increase efficiency, adding that Omsan Logistics will commence its operations on the line in the coming days.

Describing the Malatya–Gölbaşı–Narlı–Nurdağı line as the backbone of regional logistics, Tansık continued: “With the reopening of this line, direct access to Mediterranean ports will be restored. This development will enhance the region’s foreign trade capacity and accelerate regional economic growth.”

A critical development for Ermaden

Emphasizing the significance of the line’s reopening for Ermaden, which plays a critical role in supplying raw materials to OYAK Mining Metallurgy Group companies, Ermaden General Manager Halil Yıldırım said, “With the line back in service, the transportation time for iron ore extracted from our Demirdağ facilities in Divriği, Sivas will be reduced, while transport capacity will double. This development will strengthen the competitive edge of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies.”
