İsdemir, Turkey's only and largest integrated facility producing both long and flat steel, supports the dissemination of Hatay Silk, one of the forgotten cultural heritages. A silk weaving course was opened at the Public Education Center in Iskenderun with the contribution of İsdemir. It is aimed to carry the courses related to Hatay Silk weaving education to other districts in the region.
İsdemir, ab OYAK Mining Metallurgy company, continues to contribute to the socio-economic life of Iskenderun, where it operates. In this context, İsdemir took action to raise awareness about Hatay Silk, which was added to the forgotten cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In this context, a silk weaving course was started in cooperation with the Iskenderun Public Education Center in order to include the spouses of İsdemir employees and then the women in the region.
The protocol of the course, which will be launched with the Iskenderun District Governorate and the District Directorate of National Education, was signed at a ceremony held in Yunus Emre Tea Garden in the İsdemir lodging region. Iskenderun District Governor Murat Sefa DEMİRYÜREK, İskenderun District Director of National Education Ali HAYTAZ and İsdemir General Manager Salih Cem ORAL attended the ceremony.
Isdemir, the third largest integrated iron and steel factory in Turkey as of its establishment date and the largest in terms of long product production capacity, has been generating social and economic benefits for Iskenderun. Supporting the people of Iskenderun in social life with projects such as the Children's Traffic Education Park and disinfectant support to schools, is launching a brand new project for the region with the Hatay Silk weaving course.
Within the scope of the protocol signed on Hatay Silk Project, İsdemir will provide space and equipment for the course, which is planned to last for three years, and will meet the needs related to the course. The course, which will be attended by the spouses of İsdemir employees in the first stage, will spread to neighboring districts according to the interest from the women in the region.
