İsdemir has been producing for Türkiye and the world for 53 years

3 October 2023

As a leading representative of the iron and steel sector, one of the main elements of industry and development, İsdemir is celebrating its 53rd anniversary in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic. As Türkiye's only integrated facility producing both long and flat steel, İsdemir continues to make significant contributions to the economy of İskenderun as well as the national economy with the ecosystem it has created.

İsdemir (İskenderun Demir ve Çelik A.Ş.), one of the OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies that is Türkiye's only integrated facility capable of producing both flat and long steel, is celebrating its 53rd anniversary. Founded in 1970, İsdemir, Türkiye's global steel power, provides basic input to many sectors such as pipe manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction and manufacturing with the products it produces in its state-of-the-art production lines.

Continuing its investments without interruption since the day it was founded and growing together with Türkiye, İsdemir also carries out activities to reduce its carbon footprint in line with the principle of 'environmentally friendly production'.

As one of the most important brands in Türkiye and the world in the iron and steel sector, which is one of the main elements of industry and development, İsdemir has a production capacity of approximately 5.8 million tons/year of liquid steel, 3.5 million tons/year of flat products, 0.6 million tons/year of coil and 2.5 million tons/year of billet final products. In addition to billets, coils, hot rolled coils and slabs, Isdemir also produces by-products such as coke, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, ammonium sulfate, granulated slag, tar and benzole.

Türkiye's sixth largest industrial enterprise

İsdemir, one of the leading organizations of Türkiye's heavy industry, ranked sixth in the ‘Türkiye's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises Survey-2022', which strongly reflects the national economy. Making significant contributions to the development of the country's industry as well as İskenderun with the ecosystem it has created, İsdemir also has a significant share in Türkiye's foreign trade with its exports to all around the world.

After the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which shook the entire Türkiye deeply, İsdemir had to suspend production, but restarted its production lines in a short time and resumed its activities at full capacity.
