Kızılcapınar Hydroelectric Power Plant, which was established by Erdemir Enerji Üretim A.Ş., was among the 34 hydroelectric facilities inaugurated collectively by the Presidency on August 11, 2022. Kızılcapınar Power Plant will produce the electricity needs of 6,250 households annually.
Kızılcapınar Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), which was established in the Kızılcapınar Village of Karadeniz Ereğli on the dam built and operated by Erdemir, officially became operational on August 11, 2022, at the mass opening ceremony held with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The facility will support the strategy of ensuring Turkey's energy supply and security with domestic and national resources, and has an average annual production capacity of 18 million 700 thousand kWh. The facility, which will serve to reduce the amount of natural gas and coal imported from abroad, will produce an amount corresponding to the electricity consumption of approximately 6,250 households annually. The facility will also contribute to the quality electricity supply needs of consumers in the region by making a positive impact on the energy quality in the electricity distribution network at the connection point. It will also ensure that 10,500 tons of CO2 emissions, arising from such amount of energy production, will be prevented annually.
Erdemir Enerji Üretim A.Ş., which was established in 2019 with the aim of producing renewable energy with 100 percent of Erdemir's capital, will continue to create value by evaluating potential energy opportunities, especially renewable energy projects, while prioritizing projects in line with our country's national energy policy.
