Akdeniz Chemson wins gold medal for achievements in “Sustainability”

Akdeniz Chemson's Türkiye plant, operating under OYAK Group Companies, was awarded a gold medal by the EcoVadis platform for its successful efforts in the field of “sustainability”.

Acting with the awareness of its responsibility towards future generations and carrying out all its activities in line with the principle of “sustainability”, Akdeniz Chemson's Türkiye plant was recognized by the EcoVadis platform. Akdeniz Chemson, whose performance in the last 12 months was evaluated in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, ranked in the top 5 percent of the companies examined and was awarded the gold medal.

Carrying out important work in the field of sustainability

Founded in 2020 through the merger of Akdeniz Kimya, an OYAK Group Company, and Austrian Chemson, acquired in 2013, Akdeniz Chemson is one of the world's leading polymer additive manufacturers in the plastics industry. The company, also the world leader in PVC stabilizers, conducts significant work in the field of sustainability.

Continuously evaluating sustainability risks and opportunities, Akdeniz Chemson aligns its activities with OYAK's Sustainability Policy and Strategy. With participation from both employees and senior management, the company upholds ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 27001 certificates at its facility in Izmir.  Akdeniz Chemson prioritizes the health of employees, customers, end-users, and society in all its activities, aiming to create more value by consuming fewer resources. The company continues to invest in reducing emissions and waste and using energy resources efficiently.

EcoVadis aims to guide companies in sustainability

The EcoVadis platform aims to guide companies in improving their sustainability performance and value chains, helping manage ESG (environmental, social, and governance practices) risks and compliance, achieve corporate sustainability goals, and create impact at scale. The medals and badges awarded by EcoVadis recognize eligible companies that have completed the assessment process and demonstrated a robust management system addressing sustainability criteria as outlined in the EcoVadis methodology. According to the evaluation methodology of the EcoVadis platform, the score that companies need to achieve in order to earn a gold medal increases every year. This forces companies to increase their sustainability maturity if they want to keep their gold medal.To date, the EcoVadis platform has evaluated over 2 million companies from more than 180 countries and 220 industries, rating over 130 thousand companies.
