Continuing to produce environmentally friendly products for a sustainable world, OYAK Cement added a new product to its gray cement family. CEM VI (S-LL) 32.5 R type gray cement is produced with carbon dioxide emissions of less than 400 kg per ton. The new gray cement is also the first 'CEM VI' class product to receive the G certificate of conformity in the Turkish cement industry.
OYAK Cement, one of the OYAK Group Companies and the first cement company in Türkiye to make the 'Net-Zero' commitment, continues to add products that prioritize sustainability to its product range. The CEM VI (S-LL) 32.5 R type product added by OYAK Cement, the capacity and market leader of the Turkish cement industry, to its gray cement family is produced with carbon dioxide emissions of less than 400 kg per ton. The new gray cement is also the first 'CEM VI' class product to receive the G certificate of conformity in the Turkish cement industry.
Offered under the Alfacem brand, CEM VI (S-LL) 32.5 R provides maximum resistance to environmental impacts with the additive of ground blast furnace slag and limestone, while providing great benefits to both the environment and the circular economy. Thanks to its low heat of hydration, the product also prevents the formation of thermal cracks in mass concrete.
Having a carbon emission value of 50 percent less than Portland cement, Alfacem also contributes significantly to OYAK Cement's “Net-Zero” vision with this feature.
Developing environmentally friendly products
Exporting to 85 countries including the USA, Russia, Israel, Romania and Morocco, OYAK Cement leads the sector with its unique projects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions both in its production processes and in its final products.
OYAK Cement has also increased the use of alternative fuels in clinker production processes, which has been the main source of carbon dioxide emissions, to 25 percent. OYAK Cement contributes to the circular economy while eliminating wastes harmful to nature by reducing natural resource consumption through alternative raw material sources and industrial symbiosis. OYAK Cement also reduces the effects of indirect carbon emissions through energy generation from waste heat and solar energy projects.
An example to the world in calcined clay technology
OYAK Cement leads the world cement industry with its low carbon footprint calcined clay technology. The calcined clay produced by OYAK Cement, which established the world's first cement factories with calcined clay integration, is known as a binder with a carbon footprint that can reach 90 percent compared to Portland clinker.
