Thanks to the 'Time To Be Together With Soil' project launched by HEKTAŞ for the Yavrudoğan Mahallesi in Manavgat, Antalya, where the agricultural lands were damaged in the forest fires that occurred in 2021, there was an increase in the productivity of the farmers by nearly 40 percent. Implemented for the ecological and agricultural rehabilitation of the soil, the project was deemed worthy of the 'Green Transformation' award in the social responsibility award program 'Common Tomorrows' organized by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK).
Thanks to the 'Time To Be Together With Soil' project launched by HEKTAŞ, which makes a great contribution to the agricultural industry in Turkey, for the Yavrudoğan Mahallesi in Manavgat, Antalya, where the agricultural production areas were damaged in the forest fires in the summer of 2021, the productivity of the farmers in the region increased significantly.
HEKTAŞ General Manager H. Zafer Terzioğlu emphasized that as a 66-year-old long-established company that has pioneered smart agriculture in Turkey, they are endeavoring to raise awareness and strengthen farmers with the products and services they have developed. Noting that the protection of soil and water is essential for sustainable agriculture today, Terzioğlu stated that at this point, they direct the farmers to the right agricultural practices and raise their awareness, and they take care to protect the soil and natural resources while increasing productivity.
Terzioğlu said that they have determined the Yavrudoğan Mahallesi in Manavgat, Antalya, which was badly damaged in the forest fires in 2021, as a pilot area for them in this context. Stating that they are providing support to 27 farmers, who were affected by the fire, within the scope of the project to strengthen their lands, to continue production and to be more productive in a greenhouse area of approximately 150 decares, Terzioğlu said, “We provided approximately 5 thousand liters of liquid fertilizers, 16 thousand kilograms of drip and base fertilizer support to the farmers during the project.”
Organomineral and liquid fertilizer awareness raised
With the applied technical consultancy service provided by HEKTAŞ in the process from planting to harvest, farmers implemented the right agricultural practices and increased their yields by nearly 40 percent this year.
Thanks to the correct products and techniques used, the increase in the number of harvests from two to three each year was effective in the increase in productivity. Harvest times also increased from 45 days to 50 days. The number of crops developed on the plant increased over time.
