Sustainability

At OYAK, Sustainability and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management is regarded as the capacity to create value in economic, environmental, and social dimensions by proactively assessing and managing current and future economic, environmental, and social risks and opportunities in an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing global business environment.
Taking into account its multi-sector structure, the OYAK Group evaluates the risks arising from climate change. By proactively monitoring the impacts of national policies as well as the transformation and changes toward low-carbon production, OYAK takes the necessary actions. Within this framework, the monitoring and management of carbon emissions have become an integral part of OYAK’s way of doing business.

Sustainability at OYAK
Management Approach
Since its establishment in 1961, OYAK has continued to grow and expand across a wider geographical area with each passing day. In making decisions that will shape its future investments, OYAK acts with a vision of creating value for its country.
As OYAK prepares for the future, it remains fully aware of its responsibilities toward its more than 460,000 members, society, and the environment. At OYAK, the approach to sustainability has been embedded through a holistic and comprehensive strategy, supported by senior management.
OYAK Ecosystem
The circular economy, which is present in every aspect of our lives, and its direct link to resource use, production, and consumption habits have brought to the forefront the necessity of changing these habits and the importance of proper waste management. Sustainable and efficient management of the world’s resources is possible through reduced use of raw materials, increased resource efficiency, minimization of waste generation, and the conversion of waste back into resources. In addition, resource efficiency not only helps reduce operational costs but also enables the creation of a healthy and safe working environment.
The Zero Waste Project, which was launched at OYAK Headquarters on 26 July 2019 as the first initiative of the OYAK ecosystem approach, aims to create a cultural transformation focused on preventing waste and improving resource efficiency. Furthermore, the project prioritizes the prevention of waste generation, followed by the implementation of proper waste management practices, thereby contributing to the circular economy and resource efficiency.
