Winners of the Cement Design Competition, organized by the OYAK Cement Concrete Paper Group and encouraging the professional designers and students to produce designs using cement, are announced.
OYAK Cement Concrete Paper Group's Cement Design Competition, which was organized for the first time this year in order to increase and expand the correct use of cement and concrete, is concluded. After the workshop in Adana, the winning projects were selected. In the competition held with the theme “Unexpected Transformations” this year, total 6 projects competed for award in the student and professional categories, and 6 more projects were invited to the workshop to implement their designs due to intensive participation to the competition.
“Bloob” project ranked first in the student category
As a result of the evaluation in student category, “Bloob” project of Mert Topaloğlu and Özge Türedi (Yıldız Technical University) ranked first, while “Pieces” project of Bilge Kamalı (Gazi University) received the second place award and “Bir Şey Değil Her Şey” (Not Anything, But Everything) project of Abdulkerim Uluer (Istanbul Gelişim University) received the third place award. In the same category, “UP2U” project of Kerem Aydın (Gazi University), “Betonun Varoluşu” (Existence of Concrete) project of Fatih Eyice and Semih Seven (Pamukkale University), and “Freedo” project of Mustafa Sağdıç (Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University) and Ahmet Faruk Varan (Yıldız Technical University) received honorable mention award and had the opportunity to implement their design in the workshop process.
“Pli” project ranked first in the professional category
In the professional category, “Pli” project of Ozan Gürsoy, Mehmet Furkan Bakar and Selin Emir ranked first, while “Curve” project of Deniz Yıldırım received the second place award and “Biricik” (Unique) project of Şengül Has and Arda Yaycı received the third place award. In the same category, “By Step” project of Gözde Nalçacı and Seyyid Muhammed Turhan, “Betolamp” project of Murat Erbaş, and “Plain” project of Mehmet Emre Ermiş received honorable mention award and attended to the workshop process.
In the first stage of the Cement Design Competition, a total of 180 projects, including 81 in the professional category and 99 in the student category, competed. 6 projects from each category were selected for the award group and honorable mention award group in the student and professional categories.
The jury comprised of the High Architect Melike Altınışık (Melike Altinisik Architects), High Architect Pınar Gökbayrak (PAB Mimarlık), High Industrial Products Designer Mirzat Koç (+mkd Mirzat Koc Design), Academician Assoc. Dr. Saitali Köknar (Kadir Has University), and Betonart Magazine Chief Editor Dr. Mimar Neslihan Şık convened after the workshop in Adana and evaluated the implementation processes and final products of the projects.
First place award of 15.000 TL, second place award of 12.000 TL and third place award of 9.000 TL in the professional category and first place award of 12.000 TL, second place award of 9.000 TL and third place award of 6.000 TL in the student category will be presented to the winners.
