The Armed Forces Pension Fund which sets a successful example in our country among the complementary occupational pension funds in the world dates back to the Regulation on the Military Loan Office of April 12, 1911.

Following Turkey’s entrance into the Korean War upon being a member of the United Nations in 1945 and the NATO in 1952, members of the Turkish Armed Forces became aware of the social facilities of their colleagues in the world. Activities were initiated so as to identify the additional social security benefits also covering the issue of housing for the members of the army and proposals were filed by the deputies of the government and opposition parties for the establishment of an “OYAK” (the Armed Forces Pension Fund) between 1957 and 1960.

Subsequently, the current legal framework of OYAK was essentially created through the Law on the Armed Forces Pension Fund No. 205 that entered into force on March 1, 1961.

OYAK, whose roots go back a long way and which has fulfilled a very important function in our country in the field of social security for more than fifty five years, has significantly contributed to the national economy through the role played thereby in this historial process and the functions borne thereby together with its affiliates involved in various sectors as well as the legal benefits and services provided to its members.

By believing that the creation and development of OYAK-like second pillar professional pension funds for other professional groups will considerably contribute to the social security and the improvement and development of our company, we provide you, in this section, with the historical development of OYAK which has gradually developed, become stronger and turned into a pioneer and prominent Institution.
